(Yeah, we used that line before, but our brains are also melted from this heat – we can’t live in the store.)
Besides the air conditioning, there are plenty of other great reasons to stop into our little nook (that’s bigger on the inside) on 65 James Street.
There’s the constantly changing shelves of books, the biggest selection of Doctor Who merchandise on the East Coast, comics, magazines, DVDs, audiobooks, and… well… you really should just come in and see for yourself!
Oh – and then there are our EVENTS!
This Friday, July 27, 2012, starting at 7PM we are proudly hosting A Plethora of Poets! Come in and hear six local poets share their work and words. Featuring: Lori Desrosier, Eve Rifka, Joshua Michael Stewart, Susurrus Din, Dan Lewis, and Paul Richmond.
Then, on Sunday, August 5, 2012, local teen author Michael Colbert will be releasing his second novel with a reading and signing at the store starting at 2PM.
On Saturday, August 11, Spencer Hill Press will be hosting “There’s Magic in This Writing Workshop” from 10AM until 4:30 PM. The workshop is taught by SHP owner Kate Kaynak and senior editor Trisha Wooldridge, and focuses on writing for mid-grade, YA, and New Adult audiences. A pitch and query critique, as well as lunch, is included in the workshop price of $50 – with a $10 discount for members of the Worcester Writers Collaborative, Broad Universe, New England Horror Writers, and students with valid school ID. Register in advance – August 8th deadline! – at Annie’s Book Stop of Worcester in person (65 James Street, Worcester), by phone (508-796-5613), or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for information on how to sign up via PayPal.
The following day, August 12, brings local author Diane M. Haynes, who will be signing and reading from her debut novel, RIFT HEALER.
Then – because August has so much going on – on Thursday, August 16th, Rhysling-award-winning poet, author, and interstitial artist, Shira Lipkin, will be performing her writing from 7PM-9PM.
And lastly, don’t forget the regular Spinning Yarns Thursday events! Bring your textile craft, your drawing pad, your journal, or your laptop to this weekly social event. This week we’ll start Eric Idle’s The Road to Mars.
There are a lot of reasons to stop into your Annie’s Book Stop of Worcester – so join us as we celebrate the magic of words!
