New at Annie’s: Alabaster: Wolves by Caitlín R. Kiernan

alabasterwolves Fans of comics, graphic novels and “old skool” DC/Vertigo style storytelling and art should check out Alabaster: Wolves by Caitlín R. Kiernan, one of our store’s favorite writers.

Originally published as a five-issue series by Dark Horse Comics, this is now available as a hardcover collection of all five installments, with a gorgeous cover by Greg Ruth.

Kiernan’s wonderful storytelling is complemented by Steve Lieber’s striking artwork, which hearkens back to the days of DC Comics Vertigo line of books. Steve Lieber was the artist for both Helix/Vertigo’s Transmetropolitan as well as a few of DC’s regular titles such as Detective Comics, Robin and Hawkman, and we love seeing his work here.

The story follows Dancy Flammarion, who may look like a frail teenage girl, but her journey through the swamps and byways of the American South brings her into battle with werewolves, monsters, and grotesque secrets, armed only with a knife and a mission to destroy the deadly creatures that lurk in shadow.

Award-winning author Caitlin R. Kiernan brings one of her most enduring and popular creations to comics!
