We’re still shaking the sparkles out of our hair, and trying to figure out where we parked the TARDIS, after last Friday’s book launch event for editors Lynne M. Thomas and Michael Damian Thomas here at 65 James Street.
GLITTER AND MAYHEM is an anthology of speculative fiction stories, published by Apex Book Company, about roller rinks, nightclubs, and glamourous gatherings… emphasis on the “glam”.
The Thomases were joined by Jennifer Pelland, who read her tale “Star Dancer”. In addition, authors Susan Jane Bigelow and Julia Rios, as well as illustrator Katy Shuttleworth and contributor Lynne Thomas, added lustre to our evening by reading and discussing their work in the collections CHICKS DIG TIME LORDS, CHICKS UNRAVEL TIME, CHICKS DIG COMICS, QUEERS DIG TIME LORDS, and WHEDONISTAS.
All copies of these titles have been autographed by our guests. Stop by to purchase one or more for yourself or a friend!
Our guests included contributors Walter H. Hunt and Errick Nunnally, as well as editor Trisha Wooldridge, reading tales of intriguing possibilities.
Our inaugural meeting of the On Pointe Literary Salon on Monday the 30th was not as heavily attended as we could have hoped, but it more than made up for it in enthusiasm.
We discussed the memoir THE PIANIST by Wladyslaw Szpilman and the literary fiction title THE WORLD I MADE FOR HER by Thomas Moran. The conversation touched on such diverse topics as the television show HOUSE M.D. and the career of television journalist Peter Jennings.
Our next meeting of the OPLS will be on Monday evening, October 28th, starting at 7pm sharp. For more information, please contact Sean, the group moderator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
