Events Buzz Monday: More light!

03092015 - towel picHappy Extra Hour of Sunlight!

Here at 65 James Street, we at Annie’s Book Stop of Worcester are working on spring items. Not only do we have some beautiful new spring-themed children’s books, but local artist Katie Giroux has also brought us a fresh batch of her painted kitchen-towels in St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and other spring themes!

The extra sunlight is also energizing us—and we’re working on a lot of upcoming events with the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators over the spring and summer! We’ll post you some hints, below, but watch our website and Facebook page for lots more updates!

Without further ado, here’s what’s going on:

THIS WEEKEND we’ve got a double header on Saturday, March 14!

We’re starting off our day from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM with an off-site event featuring Joan Duris at AMF Lanes in Auburn. Joan is rolling out her new book B is for Berkshires with a Book & Bowling Bonanza that will include readings, prizes, and time to bowl! B is for Berkshires is a lovely alphabet book that lets readers of all ages enjoy the wonders of the Berkshires. Anyone showing an AMF League card or a March purchase from AMF gets an additional 5% off book purchases during the event. Show book purchases at the desk to get a free rental of bowling shoes for after the event. Here are more details on Facebook.

Then, from 5:00-7:00 PM, join us as we reimagine the magic of urban fantasy with Ferrett Steinmetz! Have you ever felt so passionately about something that you could bend the laws of physics and reality? Author Ferrett Steinmetz looks at that in his debut novel, Flex. Ferrett is a graduate of both the Clarion Writers’ Workshop and Viable Paradise, and has been nominated for the Nebula Award, for which he remains stoked. He has a moderately popular blog, The Watchtower of Destruction, wherein he talks about bad puns, relationships, politics, videogames, and more bad puns. He’s written four computer books, including the still-popular-after-two-years Wicked Cool PHP.

And coming up…

Sunday, March 22, 1:00-3:00 PM Insanity Tales authors Q&A, readings panel.

Saturday, March 28, 2:00-4:00 PM Kristina England reads and signs Stanley Stanley’s Investigative Services and Other Mysteries.
