Events Buzz: Late Night Updates

2010 Halloween Nylis 005Apologies that this became one of those late-night posted blogs, dear friends of ABSW! However, despite the late hour, there is still a lot of good information to be had no matter when you read this.

Here’s a brief bullet list of some awesome things:

  • Check out our Halloween book display!
  • Meet one of our cute little minion bookmarks made by a Spinning Yarns Craft and Audiobook Social
  • In two weeks we have our Spooooky Storytime with the New England Horror Writers (details below).
  • In three weeks, we’ve got best-selling author Larry Correia coming to visit (details below).

Of course THIS WEEK on Thursday, October 15, we are having our Doctor Who Discussion on MISUNDERSTOOD MONSTERS Part II. It’s happening from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Join us as we continue the discussion of the Misunderstood Monsters of Doctor Who. (Though, we like to be careful and not give away spoilers from this season!) And before, after, and maybe even while we’re chatting, check out our extensive collection of Doctor Who toys, collectibles, and magazines. We do have one of the largest collections (if not the largest collection) in the Northeast!

Want to know even more details? Here you go!

Friday, October 23; 7:00 – 8:30 PM – Worcester Storytellers featuring Paul McMahon. We just interviewed Paul for our Spotlight blog. Check it out!

Saturday, October 24; 12:00 – 8:00 PMSpooooky Storytime! Join us for our annual Halloween party and story time! Wear costumes, hear excellent stories! The awesome New England Horror Writers will be helping us celebrate. Readers will include Paul McMahon (because he’s awesome enough to visit us two days in a row), Rob Smales, Scott Goudsward, T.J. Wooldridge, Kevin Lewis, Renee Mulhare, and Rich Feitelberg. From 12:00-5:00 PM, we will have child-friendly read-aloud time, and from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, we will have the really scary stuff for older audiences! Come celebrate ABSW’s favorite time of year.

Monday, October 26; 7:00 – 9:00 PM – Free People’s Artists Workshop

Friday, October 30; 7:00 – 9:00 PM – Larry Correia and Son of the Black Sword. Join best-selling science fiction and fantasy author for an evening event of reading, discussion, and signing his latest book!

As a reminder, our regular events are…

Spinning Yarns Craft and Audiobook Social, every Monday 7:00 PM (except for when the Free People’s Artists Workshop meets the last Monday of the month). Bring a craft and enjoy an audiobook or audio drama with other crafty booklovers!

The Free People’s Artists Workshop, the last Monday of each month from 7:00-9:00 PM. Networking and feedback from other artists and creators of all types. Co-sponsored by the Worcester County Poetry Association.

Doctor Who Talks, the third Thursday of every month from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Join us for a discussion of our favorite science fiction serial. Every month will have a different topic!
