Events Buzz: Spring Planning

Happy March! Spring is getting closer—despite the weather predictions. What are you planning on reading as the seasons change?

A great big thank you to everyone who came out this weekend to our Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss Drop-in Craft and Story Time and our Exploring the Charles River  with Kathleen Rowe events this past weekend.  We had a lovely time with all of you!

If you have enjoyed our events or the time you’ve spent in our little store, consider leaving us a review on TripAdvisor or leaving us a review on Yelp. You can also review us on Facebook!

THIS WEEK, at our “bigger on the inside” 65 James Street bookstore, we’ve got two more great events!

THIS THURSDAY, March 8, from 7:00 – 9:00 PM, come to  The Future of Newspapers; Dan Kennedy’s The Return of the Moguls presentation and discussion!

Dan Kennedy’s’s book, The Return of the Moguls, chronicles the important changes in newspaper ownership, and how it goes beyond affecting the news and into affecting democracy as we know it. Dan will be talking, reading, and signing.

Dan Kennedy is an associate professor in the School of Journalism at Northeastern University in Boston and a panelist on WGBH-TV’s Beat the Press. He was a reporter and media analyst at the Boston Phoenix for eleven years and a featured media columnist for the Guardian for five years. He writes on the news media for WGBHNews.org, the Nieman Journalism Lab, and other publications, as well as the blog Media Nation. He is the author of The Wired City.

And THIS SATURDAY, March 10, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, Rainbow Readers Discusses Bingo Love by Tee Franklin, Jenn St-Onge, and Joy San.

Love never fades no matter how many years they are apart! Come join us for Bingo Love, a story that took kickstarter by storm and was released from Image Comics Feb 14th! Copies are available at the store now!.

Bingo Love is a LGBTQ romance story that spans over 60 years. A chance meeting at church bingo in 1963 brings Hazel Johnson and Mari McCray together. Through their formative years, these two women develop feelings for each other and finally profess their love for one another.

Forced apart by their families and society, Hazel and Mari both married young men and had families. Decades later, now in their mid 60’s, Hazel and Mari are reunited again at a bingo hall. Realizing their love for each other is still alive, what these grandmothers do next takes absolute strength and courage.
