(Apologies to our Newsletter Subscribers. MailerLite is in the middle of an update. But our newsletter is still worth waiting for with its added information and coupon, so subscribe if you haven’t yet!)

We’re halfway through July, and really picking things up with news and events! Hang on, there’s a lot in this blog!

Are you an author interested in getting your book into independent book stores? Check out the blog our Trish Wooldridge, events coordinator, wrote for 24 Carrots!

As the school year ends, we know many of our younger friends and family are getting their report cards! How were your grades? Did you know we have a Report Card Rewards program for those with especially good grades? We do!

During the month of July, bring your final 2018 report card into our 65 James Street store and receive free books!  (One prize per report card.)

  • If your highest grade is an “A” (or A equivalent), you’ll receive TWO free used books!
  • If your highest grade is a “B” (or a B equivalent), you’ll receive ONE free used book!
  • If you have a straight “A” report card (including A+, A-, and equivalent value), you’ll receive a $10 gift certificate to Annie’s Book Stop!
  • If you have a straight “B” report card (including B+, B-, and equivalent value), you’ll receive a $5 gift certificate to Annie’s Book Stop!

We’re still getting more summer reading titles, so if you’ve got summer reading assignments, come in and see us. We can also special order various titles for you. And if you know you’ll be traveling and you need a summer reading title—or a new beach read or vacation book—we do have a mail order service. Order a book and we can mail it to you. Find out more about our mail order service here!

Now, onto the amazing events we have going on THIS WEEK!

THIS WEDNESDAY, July 18, join us for Board Game Night!

Do you enjoy board games, but have no one at home that likes to play them? Play games and meet new people. If you are tired of your computer games or just want to try something different, board games can be very exciting and lots of fun!

And THIS SATURDAY, July 21, 6:00 – 8:00 PM, the Rainbow Readers Discuss Outside the Lines by Anna Zabo.

Miniature artist Ian Meyers has one week to rebuild his damaged set. Needing help, he goes to End o’ Earth, the local comic and gaming shop. Owner Simon Derry pushes all of Ian’s buttons, and he also has steady hands and the skills Ian needs.

Before they can even grab a beer, Ian meets Lydia Derry, Simon’s wife. If Ian had any interest in women, he’d suggest a threesome, but then Simon explains that he and Lydia are polyamorous, and if Ian wants Simon, neither of them will complain. If anything, Lydia encourages the relationship.

Ian’s all in, and it’s fantastic working with Simon to piece together his set and then take each other apart at night. His friendship with Lydia grows too. The only problem is, the more time he spends with Simon, the more he wants everything Simon already has with Lydia: A house. A cat. A commitment. So Ian runs, and shatters the trust he has with them both—right when they need him the most. Piecing their relationships back together might prove harder than a smashed set.

But wait, there’s more! And some big July events, too!
